Reasons for Using Quality BMW Parts during Repair

When you need to repair or replace something on your BMW, how do you know which part is the best option for your car when it seems as if there are many available? When you search the Internet for BMW parts you can find hundreds of them that all claim to be the best option for your situation, but be aware that there are different types of part categories, including aftermarket and OEM parts. Aftermarket parts are built by third parties that are trying to craft high performance or custom parts, or in some cases, very inexpensive parts. While the latter are suppose to bolt right in place of your original part, this isn't always the case. OEM stands for original equipment manufacturer, which means they are a factory part, built by BMW or their partner. Unless you are trying to customize your vehicle you should always use OEM parts during repairs. Here are two reasons to use OEM parts instead of aftermarket parts for routine auto repairs.

Proper Fitting

The thing about using OEM BMW parts is that you know they are going to fit properly when they are installed on your car. Some aftermarket parts producers use such little care when trying to reproduce factory parts that the parts mounting holes don't align with the bolt holes that will hold them in place! This means a modification of the part would be necessary before it will fit on your BMW! Make sure OEM parts are always used that you don't end up with ill-fitting parts, as this can cause your vehicle to run poorly or be dangerous to operate.

Quality Parts

When OEM parts are used you know that it will be of factory quality. While it is true that some aftermarket parts producers do make outstanding performance parts, if you're simply having regular repairs done, there is no reason to let questionable quality parts be installed on your BMW. When you take your BMW in for service be sure to ask about the parts that will be used, so you know if they will be of OEM quality or not.
