True or False: BMW Ownership

True or False: BMW OwnershipLet's start off with what is true, that European vehicles from BMW are beautiful, fun to drive and highly reliable cars. For those reasons alone many people get the idea that owning BMW SUVs and cars is very stressful and expensive when it comes time to service and repair them. That simply isn't the case! Here's a few things people often get wrong about owning a BMW.

True or False: BMW repair and service is very expensive

FALSE! This is one of the most used statements when talking about taking care of European vehicles such as those from BMW. People think they require many regular trips to the mechanic in order to stay finely tuned, which is wrong. BMWs are well-designed automobiles that don't need as much special attention as many folks believe. Sure, there may be the occasional lemon in a bunch, but this is true for all makes and models regardless of where they are from. What can add to the cost of BMW repair and maintenance is importing genuine replacement parts from across the Atlantic. But if you stay up to date with your factory maintenance schedule then you won't see yourself at the mechanic anymore than your neighbor's domestic vehicle.

True or False: Only the dealer can provide maintenance for my BMW

FALSE! Many people believe only dealerships can work on new BMWs in order to keep the warranty in good measure. This is incorrect. As long as you keep up with your scheduled maintenance the warranty will stay good as long as it is completed by a qualified independent BMW repair shop. Dealers make good money off of auto repairs and maintenance fees because they tend to charge more than your local auto shop. Over the life of a car the dealers high fees can add thousands of extra dollars to your maintenance bill, so of course they lead to you think they are the only ones who can service your BMW.

True or False: I can bring my BMW to any mechanic

On the flip side, you can't bring your BMW to just any ole repair shop, even if they claim they provide BMW service. To give your BMW the service it deserves it's important to check out the credentials and reviews of any independent repair shop that claims it provides dealership style care before you bring your BMW to them so you can verify they do excellent work!

True or False: BMWs are awesome

We think you can answer this one on your own. Hint: they're awesome.
