What is BMW Factory Auto Maintenance?

You love your BMW, right? Well if that is the case it is incredibly important that you provide it with the services it needs in order to continue to run right for years and years. These services fall under a general term, auto maintenance. These are services that just about every car and truck on the road require, including BMW cars and SUVs. So what are these services and why does your Bimmer need them? Read on.

Why does my car need auto maintenance?

It may seem strange to have to pay for auto maintenance when your car is running just fine. However, it is important to remember that your car will begin to have problems if it is not provided with the maintenance it needs. Auto maintenance is a preventative measure that is necessary to stop breakdowns from occurring due to part failure. The following are some of the most common forms of auto maintenance for BMWs.

Oil Change

All cars and trucks require oil changes, including your German beauty. Oil changes are designed to keep the engine properly lubricated during normal operating conditions. Old oil can gum up the engine which may result in decreased performance and harsh friction amongst the moving parts. The latter could lead to massive engine trouble.

Mileage Indicated Services

There are many services that are necessary when your car reaches certain mileage points. You can find your car's services schedule inside the owner's manual. These types of services generally include replacing filters, changing the spark plugs or cleaning the fuel injection unit.

Transmission Service

It is important that you never put off having transmission services conducted. Your transmission is what transfers the power created by the engine to the wheels via the driveshaft. If it is unable to work as it is designed to due to poor maintenance you will soon find your car unable to move anywhere!

Fluid Services

Cars use a variety of specialized fluids to operate their systems. To ensure they are free of contaminants and other types of debris they need to be flushed and refilled from time to time. This includes the cooling system flush, brake fluid flush and if applicable the power steering flush.
